We want to blend in with the wedding guests… We don’t want it to be obvious that we’re running across the room putting out a fire! At any point my team looks as if they could pull up a seat at any table and be a guest.
That’s why we don’t wear over-the-top headsets or carry clipboards. We want to be discreet and make it seem like we’re just another guest enjoying the festivities. So we dress in dark colors in the winter and in shades of blue in the summertime – we blend in with the wedding guests!
Instead of carrying a clipboard, we have a pocket-sized portfolio and a crossbody bag that looks like a cute purse. We don’t carry business cards either because we’re not there to sell ourselves. We’re there to work and make sure the wedding goes smoothly!
If we need to stay in contact with each other we’ll use text messages and Apple Watches. I don’t need a bulky clipboard or a headset to communicate effectively. We have what we call the “football,” (like what travels with the President at all times) which is a copy of all our contracts and agreements. I also have a pocket timeline that’s loaded on my phone and I can use on my Apple Watch!
Our clients appreciate our discrete approach! And we’re totally fine if our clients want to take credit for all the hard work we put in… because you know those clients are going to be your best referral source!!
The Bandolier website has the greatest crossbody phone cases that we love to use! We also love carrying the MZ Wallace crossbody fanny packs because they can look like a cute purse!
At the end of the day, it’s not about looking the part of a wedding planner or coordinator. It’s about making sure the wedding day is a success and that the bride and groom have a memorable day. And for us, blending in with the wedding guests is the best way to do that!
